Gold Dust Being relatively inert, can find it as metal, sometimes as large nuggets, but usually found in small inclusions in some minerals such as quartz, metamorphic rocks and alluvial deposits derived from these sources. Gold is widely distributed, and often is associated with quartz and pyrite. It is very common as an impurity in ore, which is extracted as a byproduct. As mineral is found in the form of calaverita, a telluride of gold.
Scattered across the coastal land in a very low average concentration (5 grams in 1000 tons), and lower still in the waters of the oceans (from 0.1 mg / kg to 2 mg / kg), which is estimated to be billions of tons of gold but not economically feasible to exploit the current methods (one trillion gallons of sea water contains 120 kg, or 1 pound in more than 8.3 billion liters.
