The first man-made objects were handmade. This can be identified in the Neolithic period (6,000 BC) when the man learned to polish stone, pottery making as a tool to store and cook food, and discovered the weaving technique of animal and vegetable fibers. Historically, the craftsman responsible for the entire process of transforming raw materials into finished products. But before the transformation phase is the craftsman responsible for the selection of raw material to be used and the design. The craft is traditionally the production of a familial disease in which the producer (artisan) owns the means of production (being the owner of the shop and tools) and works with the family at home, performing all steps of production from the preparation of raw material to finishing, that is, there is no division of labor or specialization for the manufacture of a product. From the eleventh century, the craft was then concentrated in areas known as workshops, where a small group of apprentices lived with the master craftsman, possessing all the technical knowledge. With this technical knowledge, that only a few craftsmen are holders that they are made jams and liqueurs.
